Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

I was like a kid in a candy store when we got to feed and pet the giraffes at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo today. Definitely the highlight of my day. All of the kiddos, and even the adults had tons of fun on our zoo adventure. Grizzly bears, carousel rides, and a huge moose kept us all entertained, among many other fun animals and sights. Now we’ve got a house full of napping babies so I’m taking this chance to upload some pics from our excursion! Enjoy, from us here in the very chilly state of Colorado!

Bare legs.

By the time you read this, I will probably be missing the warmth of the sunshine and heat of the afternoons in Hawaii. Because we will be in snowy, wintry Colorado. As I type this, I’m soooo looking forward to bundling up in scarves and beanies for some fun in the snow, but check back with me in a couple of days, because I might be a frozen popsicle by then, longing for coatless-bare-legged kinda weather. Really, we’re all super anxious for our trip, mainly because there is a little family in Colorado Springs with three cutie pies that I’m dying to hang out with all snowy day long. Until then, here’s what we wore this past weekend for church and a fab lunch on a warm afternoon.

I’m wearing: dress from Old Navy | skinny belt from F21 | sandals from Target | purse by Steve Madden | headband from Nordstrom | watch by Betsey Johnson | glasses by Sabre. Izzy’s wearing: dress from American Apparel | sandals from Payless.

Gobble gobble.

We are spending Thanksgiving with my little brother and his family in Colorado this year!! Heading to the airport bright and early tomorrow morning…eek! To start us off in a very festive mood, we had a craft day this weekend. First we headed to Price Busters to pick up a few crafty supplies—feathers, glitter glue, and some little fuzzy pom poms {Izzy’s choice} to name a few. We also rounded up a few household supplies like paper plates, toilet paper rolls, and construction paper. Then we invited my sis over to join in on the crafting fun. We made little turkey stand-up decorations. Izzy LOVES crafting and anything art-related, so I think we are definitely going to try and make craft day a regular around these parts. She even signed her masterpiece, in purple crayon. Gobble gobble! Wish us luck in the freezing CO weather!! We’re off!

Movie date.

Last Friday we decided to have a family movie date, so we invited my sis and bro-in-law to dinner at Bucca di Beppo, followed by Wreck-It Ralph on the big screen. We had heard good things about the movie, and honestly I am so out of the loop as to what the latest blockbusters are, that when a kids’ movie is released and it looks remotely interesting, we usually hit the theaters to enjoy it. This film was lots of fun—you laugh, you cry, you cheer, and if you’re Izzy, you dance when the credits roll. The theater was packed so we unfortunately got front-row seats since dinner ran a bit behind schedule, but it was super fun anyway. J snapped a few photos on his iPhone of his two girls, so I thought I’d do a quick lil outfit post to show ya what we wore.

I’m wearing: jeans from Charlotte Russe | top from Mahina | sandals from Urban Outfitters | bag by Steve Madden | necklace from Brandy Melville | watch by Betsey Johnson | glasses frames by RayBan. Izzy’s wearing: top by Go Gently Baby | jeans by Levi’s | shoes by Converse

Maternity Must Haves

I am excitedly in my second trimester now and happy to report that the all-day queasies and nagging fatigue has subsided. In fact I’m tempted to eat everything in sight, which is bad news for Izzy’s Halloween candy stash. This also means that my once teeny baby bump is now making its bold appearance, making it much more difficult to get dressed every morning! Here’s a few of the things that I’ve got close at hand as we move along on this little baby number 2 adventure!

one) eos lip balm spheres are super addicting and the perfect way to keep my lips moisturized, pregnancy or not! We’ve put together quite the collection over here and with their cute ball shape and fun colors and flavors, it’s no wonder. And they’re organic, with an spf 15! Pick up your fave at Target! | two) Who says you have to throw out your skinny jeans during pregnancy? ASOS Maternity makes it easy to stay stylish even with that growing belly. These skinnies are oh so cute and made for expecting mamas, with stretch and elastic in all the right places. With a low-rise and incognito elastic band you’d never know these were maternity jeans! | three) So if you’re like me, you still try to squeeze into your NON-maternity jeans and pants but just can’t seem to get that zipper up or button closed over the growing belly! Eek! Enter the belly band, this one by BellaBand. This clever little device is designed to allow you to wear your regular jeans and pants throughout pregnancy by placing this elastic band right on over that pesky waistband. I didn’t use one during my first pregnancy, but thought I’d try it this time around. Haven’t pulled it out yet, but I’ve got a feeling the next couple of months will be seeing a lot of the BellaBand! | four) Hydration is key during pregnancy so I’ve been drinking LOTS of water. My sis introduced me to this cute little bottle by ello which is made of glass with a silicone sleeve. And it is a perfect companion for holding my icy water for days at the mall or just running errands around town. five) Three words: Stretch Mark Prevention! Don’t get me wrong. I did not escape my first pregnancy stretch-mark-free, but a daily application of cocoa butter lotion surely minimized it! So this time around I picked up the Therapy Massage Bar from LUSH because, duh, I’m a total lushie! But also because it’s packed with cocoa butter and shea butter to take good care of that expanding skin! And with lavender and Neroli oils it smells so relaxing! {P.S. all oils and butter are organic too! Dontcha just LOVE Lush?!}  six) Leggings! Leggings, leggings, and more leggings. That basically describes my outfit 5 out of 7 days of the week. Paired with a graphic tee for a casual day of errands, or paired with a silky tunic for a fancier occasion, leggings are like oh-so-comfy and don’t give you that “What!? This doesn’t fit either?!” feeling when getting dressed. PLUS! These leggings are from ASOS Maternity and made from the softest stretchiest cotton under the sun. seven) Fact: I am the least athletic person on the planet. But I vowed to try {keyword: TRY} more physical exercise during this second pregnancy. Now, I’m not doing laps around the track people, but I’ve started prenatal yoga a few weeks ago, and I must say, I LOVE it. Easy to do, even for the athletically-challenged like myself, and you really feel good after—relaxed, stretched, and rejuvenated. Who knew? My fave is Mamaste Yoga so I’ve been getting my Om on via a daily podcast. Even just  a 20-minute routine makes me feel oh-so-good! Yoga image source.

Valley of the Temples

This past weekend we took an excursion to the Valley of the Temples in Kaneohe. I always love visiting the gorgeous temple and amazing grounds. Such a breathtaking and peaceful place! We lingered around the grounds, fed the koi fish and swans, and rang the huge bell a few times. It was a lot of fun and Izzy even made a little friend while fish-feeding. We rang the bell a few more times, left our mark on the Autograph Tree, and took a sleepy stroll through the bamboo garden (look at those tired faces!). The morning of taking in the sights worked up an appetite so we headed to Sweet Home Waimanalo for some grub before naptime at home! Wonderful day!

Pumpkin Pickin’

One of our favorite new Halloween traditions is pumpkin picking at the pumpkin patch. Unfortunately though, our travel schedules and Julian’s busy wedding weekends didn’t allow us to go this year. But I still thought I’d share last year’s pumpkin picking extravaganza at Waimanalo Country Farms. We had such a blast, and I still love watching this video a year later! Look at how small my little ghoul was! Wishing all you ghouls and goblins a very Happy Halloween!!!
